Who we are

EU Ruins ("we", "us", "EU Ruins") operates a Rust game server, a The Isle game server, an associated website at ruins.fyi, and a community Discord server. This policy explains what data we collect through those services and how it's used.

Data we collect

We collect only what's needed to operate the servers, the website, and community features:

  • Account identity — your Steam ID and public Steam display name, obtained when you sign in with Steam. This is required to use the website and to link in-game progress.
  • Linked platform data — if you choose to connect Discord, Patreon, TikTok, or YouTube through OAuth, we receive only what that platform's authorization screen discloses to you at the time (for example: Discord user ID and username; Patreon pledge tier; TikTok or YouTube public account identity and public statistics such as follower counts or video lists). We never receive your password for any linked platform, and OAuth connections are read-only unless a feature explicitly says otherwise.
  • Gameplay data — in-game actions relevant to server operation and moderation, such as playtime, kills/deaths, warnings, kicks, bans, support tickets you file, dinosaur or base ownership records, and wallet/currency balances (Fossils, Amber).
  • Moderation records — staff actions taken against or on behalf of an account (warnings, message removals, ticket history) are retained to keep moderation consistent and to support appeals.
  • Technical logs — standard web server logs (IP address, request time, page requested) and Discord bot logs, kept for security and abuse prevention.

How we use your data

  • To operate and secure the game servers, website, and Discord.
  • To maintain your in-game wallet, marketplace listings, dinosaur ownership, and other persistent account state.
  • To review and evaluate Creator Program applications, including verifying that you control the account you've linked and checking public statistics against published eligibility rules.
  • To moderate the community: investigating reports, applying warnings/kicks/bans, and maintaining a staff-visible history so decisions are consistent over time.
  • To communicate with you about your account, applications, purchases, or moderation actions, primarily via Discord DM or the website.

We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

Third-party platforms

Signing in or linking an account routes you through that platform's own login screen (Steam, Discord, Patreon, TikTok, Google/YouTube). Each provider has its own privacy policy governing how they handle your data before it ever reaches us — we only see what the authorization screen tells you we'll receive. If you disconnect a linked platform, we stop requesting new data from it going forward.

Data retention and removal

Wallet balances, ownership records, and moderation history are kept for as long as your account is active on our servers, since they're required for the game and community systems to function correctly. If you'd like your linked-platform data disconnected or want to ask about removal of specific records, contact staff through our Discord — moderation records tied to enforcement actions may be retained even after a disconnect request, for community safety and appeal purposes.

Cookies and local storage

The website uses cookies and browser local storage to keep you signed in and to remember basic preferences (such as which game you're browsing). We don't use third-party tracking or advertising cookies.

Children's privacy

Our services are not directed at children under the age of 13, and use of Steam, Discord, TikTok, and YouTube is separately governed by each platform's own minimum age requirements. If you believe a child has provided us data in violation of this policy, contact us via Discord and we'll remove it.

Security

We take reasonable technical measures to protect stored data, but no online service can guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a breach affecting your data, we'll notify affected users through Discord or the website.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our services change. Material changes will be reflected by updating the date at the top of this page.
